Storytime FAQs

At Blue Baboon Books, we LOVE storytime. We shine at storytime. It's one of our very favorite things. We sing. We dance. We play. And, of course, we read!

For specifics on books or activities we do during storytime, please visit our EVENT CALENDAR. If you'd like to learn more about our storytime policies, visit our STORYTIME EXPECTATIONS (FOR ADULTS) page.

Please join us for any or all of the following storytime events:

  • Traditional Storytime: Wednesdays @ 10:30 a.m.
We work hard to really engage kiddos with songs, finger play, and lots of storytime fun! We usually read two stories during our Wednesday storytimes: The featured book, plus a related book.
  • Storytime PLUS: Fridays @ 10:30 a.m.
We still sing great songs and read great stories, but the PLUS comes in after storytime when we include some kind of fun activity, play a game, do a craft, or eat a themed snack. Because Storytime PLUS events take a bit more planning, we ask parents to register their children for each event. Registration links are available in each storytime listing on our EVENT page.
  • Pajama Jam: Monthly @ 6:30 p.m.
These are super fun evening events. It's like storytime on steroids! We do all the regular storytime stuff, PLUS we include a mini-dance party! We invite our guests to come dressed in their bedtime best: Pajamas ... hence the name Pajama Jam! Pajama Jam events vary, but can be found each month in our EVENT CALENDAR

DO GUESTS PAY FOR ANY OF THE STORYTIMES? For the most part, no. All our storytime events are free, but we always appreciate your support as you build your child's home library. During our busy storytimes (during the Christmas season and the summer months). we limit our attendance to 20 kiddos and we ask our guests to reserve a spot with a $3-per-child reservation fee. HOWEVER, guests will receive a $3 coupon to use at  Blue Baboon Books. Registration links are available in each storytime listing on our EVENT page.

WHAT AGE RANGE DO YOU TARGET DURING STORYTIME? During the school year when school-age kiddos are in school, our storytimes are geared toward the 0- to 5-year-old crowd. During the summer months or on in-service days for area public schools, we bump up our game a bit -- still engaging little ones, but also pulling in older kids as well. No matter what their age, we make sure that kids have fun!
